Thanksgiving on the West Coast

Arrived in Sacramento around noon on Friday after thanksgiving and immediately headed to E 16 Winery. Shannon and Carl met us there. Drove to Amador City to a brewery and then dinner. Great way to begin my two week California visit.

Saturday we went to the Van Gogh Immersion exhibit. I was mesmerized.

Sunday was trim the tree and decorate outside at the Cingel-Silva home.

The leaves were still colorful as we walked around Drew and Erin’s neighborhood.

On Monday we headed up the hill (as Shan puts it) to Nevada City.  It was time to pick out their tree from the national forest.

Tea at the beautiful National Hotel was a special treat.

Bandit and Jax also had to have their Advent treats each night.

It was time to head back down the hill to Sacramento. Erin and I went to a light show called Enchant, which was exactly what the name says.

Drew and I hiked along the American River where we saw sea lions that had made their way up from the Bay Area to feast on the salmon, a surprise for both of us. They had to travel about 75 miles.

One night we had a rousing game of Phase 10.

It was only fitting that my first day and last day were spent at wineries, Carlisle and Fort Ross.
