Today’s drive was about 4 hours to Vaughn, MT on a 2-land road, easy driving for Bill. We had reservations at Big Sky Deli, a Harvest Host site. The whole 4 hours looked a lot like this picture, huge open farmland with mainly wheat growing.
Big Sky Deli reminded me of our Way’s Fruit Farm. Lots to look at and buy! Most remarkable was that they had Lebanon bologna and scrapple!!
Look at the sky and you’ll understand why Montana is called Big Sky.
After we set up and had lunch at the deli, we decided to visit the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, along the Missouri River in Great Falls, MT. The boys and I walked on a trail that told some of the history while Bill visited the Center.
View of the Missouri River from the trail.
This is Seaman, Lewis and Clark’s Newfoundland dog. Don’t know if that was his actual size but I know they are large dogs. They paid $20 for him and he went everywhere with them.
Along the trail.
After we finished there, we decided to visit a brewery. It was an interesting place. Definitely a locals bar but the beer was good. Plus, we were told to visit Ryan’s Dam, one of the 5 falls in Great Falls.
Ryan Dam had pictures of what the falls looked like when Lewis and Clark arrived. It was over 90 feet high. Daunting to say the least.
Can you imagine what it would have looked like to Lewis and Clark??
We got back to the RV just in time for a rain shower with this full rainbow.
Tomorrow on to Saco, MT. Montana is a large state. Takes us awhile to get across it.
