Finishing projects and more fun at the lake

With birthday celebrations over, it was back to work for Bill and me. A day at Erin and Drew’s to put up posts to hang lights and mask making.

Then back to Shan and Carl’s to haul rocks and gravel for a walkway around Shan’s garden.

A lot of hard labor but Shan will love it.

With all that hard work, it was time for some more lake fun. What a treat to be able to drive 3 miles and have the beautiful lake to play in.

Drew, Erin and Eim came up to play at the lake. Everyone had a blast.

Erin is becoming a seamstress. Look at the outdoor pillows and table runner she made. Really adds to the fun, magical backyard oasis.

Drew made us homemade rigatoni... delicious.

Here’s their backyard all lit up. You can also see the table runner Erin made. Pulls it all together.

Shan and Carl get home from their mountain biking trip at Mt Hood in Oregon. Who know what we’ll get into Monday.

Check back to find out.

Birthday Celebrations!

After working at several projects at both Drew and Erin’s and Shannon and Carl’s, the kids gave me a grand time celebrating.

First Shannon had a taco bar for us with a homemade cherry pie made by Erin. Everything was delicious.

Then on Saturday, Drew and Erin took us to Big Basin State Park and to a winery.

Hiking among the redwoods lets us know how small we are in this vast world!

These vines are planted on a hillside and make some delicious wine.

A great weekend for all.

More lake time and hiking and fishing in the high Sierras

Sunday, July 5, Drew and Erin drove up from Sacramento to join Shan, Carl, and us at Scott’s Lake for a wonderful time picnicking, water sports, and relaxing!

Shan is struggling with the new-fangled life vest that auto opens when you fall off the paddle board.

Then there is Drew and Erin’s Chillin’ Baggin’ !

Lenny is ready to go paddle borarding.

On Monday Shan, Carl, us and the 4 dogs went up in the high Sierras near Tahoe for some fishing and hiking. After fighting some brush for about a mile on a trail Carl thought thought  would lead to the creek, Shannon and I took a different route. We found a well- maintained trail that led directly to the water and a nice little waterfall. Had our lunch while resting at the water’s edge on some huge boulders.

Carl and Bill returned about 4 hours later all happy they had made a new trail and caught some fish. More pics to follow when Carl sends me his pics of the day.

Time with Drew and Erin - Sacramento

Now my trip is now complete. We spent the afternoon and evening at their place social distancing in their gorgeous outdoor space.

This is the structure that Drew assembled by himself!  We were both impressed. His dad and us were supposed to have been there to help him but then Covid came to town. In the end, he didn’t really need us. But Drew and Bill were discussing some other projects.

Here’s Erin’s project. She’s becoming quite the master gardener!

We’ve already eaten some of the fruits of her labor. Delicious zucchini, cucumber and peppers.

Had some fun with sparklers. Thanks, Erin, for having those. Something I haven’t done in years but so much fun.

As we headed back up route 49 to our home in Auburn, we had fireworks all along the 30-minute trip home.

Wonderful 4th for us. Hope you all had a great time remembering those who gave us the freedoms we have.

Around Nevada city - some projects and some fun

Sunday was a mix of projects and fun. We got our list of projects and I set our goals (attainable ones for the heat). We worked in the morning, weeding and seeding the lawn they want. Then took off for Lake Spaulding to hike. The view of the lake is gorgeous. Took pics of some wildflowers along the way.

Monday, a few more projects and then Shannon and Bill went mountain biking. I dropped them off at xxxxxxcc and Lenny, Banjo and I took off for a hike.

Lillies growing in the woods were beautiful and wild.

I can see why Shan and Carl like it so much here, views are breathtaking and so many outdoor activities.

Tuesday was mostly projects and resting. I took time to take some pics around their house.

Look at the size of her hydrangeas!

This is Shan’s square foot gardening project she accomplished. I’m quite impressed. The tomatoes sure are growing.

Shan’s mules at work

When Shan finds time to workout, she has lots of help!  I was able to meet with my exercise group on Zoom yesterday. Was good to catch up.

Shan and Carl live 3 miles from Scott’s Flat Lake. Spent a little time there to cool off.

Last night was our last night at the Inntown Campground. Great spot because we can walk to town and it’s a 5 minute drive to Shan’s. Captured the moon between the trees.

Tonight we’ll begin our stay at Gold Country RV in Auburn, just 30 minutes south of Shan’s and 30 minutes north of Drew’s. Perfect location to bug both of the kids!
