July 10 - Briggs Woods, Webster City, IA

Traveling east, it has been hot and humid. We’ve needed to use campgrounds with electricity so we could use AC. On the 2-lane roads we run, there aren’t many choices for campgrounds. 

We chose Briggs Road Campground in Webster City, IA. Large sites with FHU on the Boone River. 

Saw this red, white, and blue painted barn on Route 20. Thought it was creative. 

Iowa is definitely a corn state. Fields of corn mostly in tassel on both sides of the road. 

Tomorrow we’ll drive drive to Peoria, IL. 

June 10 - Carl’s Birthday, Andrea arrives

While Shuff drove to Sacramento to pick up Andrea from the airport, I took Arlo to GiGi’s and Carl and Shannon had a date day near Truckee. 

Then it was time to celebrate Carl’s birthday at Maria Mexican Restaurant. Delicious food and fun catching up with everyone. 

June 4 - Drew’s Birthday 🎉

37 years ago, a very special person came into my life … Drew. He brought lots of laughter and joy to our lives. He loved reading books, playing GeoSafari and learning about the presidents. His brain was a sponge. He just soaked up knowledge.  Today he’s a professor at UC Davis. Even though I won’t see you on your actual birthday, we’ll party on Saturday.

Shannon packed up Arlo and the dogs and we went for a walk around the neighborhood. 

Doesn’t this flower just beg to tickle someone. These flowers are prolific here in Nevada City. 


The other native flower is the sweet pea vines you see everywhere you walk or bike. Shan’s backyard is filled with the pretty pink flowers. 

Back at the RV, Arlo loves to read. This book is about Arlo and Pap. And YES, Lenny is jealous!

April 9 - Bike ride, Arlo at the Campground and Shan BD Celebration

After a hike around the campground, Bill and I took the bikes for a ride on the ditch trail near Shan’s old house. It was a bit bumpy for Banjo but at least he did t fly out of the basket!!

After our ride, it was time for Arlo to visit us at the campground while Shan worked. 

Arlo biked a little and then we went looking for trucks, his favorite pastime. 

He’s not in love wearing his helmet yet. 

Playing with his “EX” (excavator) we got him for his birthday. 

We finally got to celebrate Shannon’s birthday. We went to Maria’s Mexican Restaurant. Arlo loves his Spanish rice. 

It was still Happy Hour so we had to get a Margaritas to celebrate. 

Then cheesecake for a perfect ending. 

April 5 - Arlo’s Birthday Party

Arlo’s party was a brunch at their house. At least 16 kids, maybe more and 10 or so adults. Kids had a great time playing outside. Weather was perfect. We gave Arlo his present early so he could get used to the present idea. He caught on quite fast to getting gifts.

Arlo opened Gigi’s gift. Arlo goes to Gigi’s for daycare. 

2nd birthday party is a wrap. Arlo needed a nap. He played very hard. Shuff and I went with Drew, Erin and Rowan to Three Forks for pizza and then ti The Kombuchary for a kids party. Rowan is their “adopted daughter “ from Robbie and Meg. They were scheduled to have their 2nd daughter today. 

April 4 - Arlo’s 2nd Birthday and warmer temps

Arlo is 2 years old already and he has mastered so many things in those months. He’s talking up a storm, riding his bike and his rocking horse, and walks or runs really fast!!

We went to breakfast to start his birthday. 

Then over to the Fairgrounds to walk and ride his bike. 

Back at Arlo’s house, he had to help Pappy trim some limbs. 


Tomorrow is Arlo’s party so there will be some chaos. 

April 2 - Nate’s Birthday and Sunny skies

Today is Nathan’s 22nd birthday so we called to wish him a Happy Birthday. He’s working out and has PT, working to get strength back after his surgery. 

The sun and blue skies had us out and walking around the campground. Still a little chilly but no rain!!

Went to dinner with Carl, Shan and Arlo to Fred’s Chinese restaurant and drinks at the Mine Shaft. These were two of the places we’ve wanted to try. Great food and good beer. Arlo loved the fried rice. 

June 8 - Volunteering and Carl’s Birthday Party

Today is my day to begin volunteering. I’m a gate checker, which means I stand at the gate and direct people where to go. My perk is having bluegrass music played to me.

After our volunteer duties, we went to Carl’s birthday party. It seems like most of my pics are of Arlo, Erin and Drew.
