Headed North from Talkeetna

What a difference day makes. Bright sunshine with just a little cloud cover. . So, we decided to see if the sun was on Denali. We could walk from our AirBnB to the Susitna River with a wonderful view of the mountains.

It was hard to leave this little bit of heaven but we wanted to make it to Fairbanks in good time.

As we drove north, we took many, many more shots of Denali but I’ll just past a couple.

Also, the aspens and birches were so vivid with the sun on them.

We made it to Fairbanks but didn’t have a room reserved. We thought since it was our of season we wouldn’t have any trouble finding a room … not the case. Problem was they were only reserving at half capacity due to staff shortages. That problem seems to be all over the US.

We finally found one at the North Pole! So here we are on Santa Claus Lane. What fun.

We needed to stretch our legs so off we go to walk around Lake Chen’s. It was a beautiful walk among the yellow aspens and birches.

To top off our day, we stopped at the Antler Academy to view Santa’s reindeer. Look at those racks!

Back at the hotel to wait for a call to hopefully see the Northern Lights … at 2 am. Will I be able to get up then?
