June 12 - Baker City Elkhorn Peak Lavender Farm

Our drive from Dayville to Baker city was another scenic drive through forests. Everything is really green. Yes, that’s rain on the windshield. Only drove about 10 minutes in the rain till we had blue skies.

Also had a good morning pic from Arlo. Look at that sweet face.

Tonight we are at a Harvest Host called Elkhorn Peak Lavender Farm. The name comes from the mountains called Elkhorn. Pretty area. Very quiet.

Lavendar fields aren’t blooming just yet though.

The Elkhorn Mountains behind Ida.

Our hosts have a store with lots of lavender products.

We learned about the making of lavender oil and how they strip the blooms to make sachets, candles, soaps, and teas. Quite interesting. Really didn’t know about it before our tour.

They also have pack goats that our host uses when he packs for a hunting trip. He says they can carry 50 pounds.

Tomorrow we think we are headed to Hells Canyon near Joseph to see the Snake River.

Update: Arlo in the hot tub. His face is priceless.
