May 30 - Biking in Tahoe

Shan and Arlo took us to Tahoe to bike. We biked along the Truckee River with majestic mountains in the distance.

Where’s Arlo?

A stop for a snack at the Olympic Village and then lunch at the River Ranch at the foothill of the Palisades. A perfect day. Might be my favorite trail so far.

May 29 - Power Outage and Biking

Rude awakening- power outage. Good thing we could make out coffee with the French press. Shan, Arlo and Carl came out to the RV for coffee and bagels. Even Jax and Bandit came to see what was happening. Arlo was showing Pap how to drive and sometimes playing “boo” behind the curtains.

After Arlo went to GiGi’s, Shan went to work, Carl took the dogs on a run and Shuff and I went on a bike ride through town and on the Champion Mine trail. Nice ride before it got too hot. Saw a small waterfall along our trail.

After I picked up Arlo from GiGi’s, we finished up the day at the lake. Perfect weather.

Flowers along the trail.

May 28 - Gardening and Duff

Shan has several raised beds that she and Shuff have been working on so Shan can plant. Because of the dry weather, irrigation is used if you want your plants to survive. Carl and Shuff worked on that. What did I do, you ask … played with Arlo.

Arlo loves watermelon.

In the heat of the day, Shuff, Arlo and I went grocery shopping for a couple things I needed for the spaghetti squash I wanted to make for dinner.

Time to get ready for bed, read a book with daddy.

May 27 - Belle comes home to Nevada City

We picked Belle up from Quality Rv Solar today. Everyone, including Lenny and Banjo were ready and very happy to have our home.

Carl and Shan had a 50 amp service installed so that we could have electricity. I wonder if they know what they did. Will we ever leave??

May 26 - A day of wineries

Up early and on the road to Chacewater Winery and Olive tasting. We are members and had some to pick up. We tasted about 12 olive oils and 7 different wines. There really wasn’t one we didn’t like.

Chacewater’s olive trees. They are a Harvest Host. We stayed here a year ago and that’s when we became members.

We sat outside overlooking the olive trees with a chaurterie board and a bottle of wine.

Our next stop was at Six Sigma Winery. Although they are only a 2 hour drive from Sacramento, you think you’re in a different world. The winery sits on a 2 mile dirt road. This location used to be a stage coach stop in the 1800s. Very quiet and tranquil space. I can see what people from the city come here. They are also a Harvest Host so we hope to come back next year and stay. Maybe Carl and Shan will join us in their new van.

May 25 - Sacramento Project

Erin had a project for Shuff so since we were still RV homeless, we decided to drive to Sac for the Sunday and Monday.

The project was to install a barn door in her closet.

The project is finished except for hanging it. Erin is having their bedroom painted next week. Once the painters are finished, we’ll drive down to hang the door.

Here is what Lenny did while Shuff was working.

After a day of hard work, Drew and Erin took us to The Fieldwork Brewery for a drink and an appetizer. Back at their house, Drew smoked salmon and made a blood orange salad, which was delicious. An attempt was made to make s’mores with mini marshmallows. Didn’t taste quite the same but it was a beautiful evening to sit outside.

May 24 - E—16 Winery

Shan belongs to E—16 Winery and had wine to pick up so we met Drew and Erin there. The drive is very windy so it takes about 2 hours

They had a tasting and pairing of chocolates for us plus a little lunch. The wines they chose were delicious and the chocolate truffles enhanced the wine tasting.

Vineyards all along the drive.

On the way home, we stopped at Amador brewery to breakup the trip.

A bike with a wine barrel side car.

May 22-23 - Errands and Projects

Thursday, I went to my Aquasize class, Shan went to work, Arlo went to daycare , Shuff and Carl talked about what needed to be done. Then Carl had to work.  I made a shrimp, orzo, asparagus and spinach dish that was delicious if I do say so myself.

Then on Friday Pap and Arlo played a little. Then Shan, Arlo and I hopped in the truck to do errands and Shuff mowed at the Pasquale house.

The projects there are finally done and the house is on the market. Yoo-hoo!  So excited for Shan and Carl to have this off their plate soon.

The realator’s showing was this week and the public showing is this weekend. It’s coming together.

The clouds are swirling around but by afternoon, it will be a cloudless sky with temps in the 70s. Perfect weather.

Since the Pasquale house projects are finished, now we can focus on the guest house. They are hoping to rent it out to visiting nurses and doctors when I don’t need it 😂

Today’s project for me was to shorten a pair of drapes and Shuff weed eated (they don’t mow here in Nevada City, just weed eat). Both of us got those jobs done. Time for dinner and wine.

May 21 - Lake Day and Celebration

Carl and Shuff took a bite out of the one tree in the yard which gave more sun to their fruit trees.

It was such a beautiful sunny, cloudless day that we had to go to the lake to kayak.

Dinner at the Owl in Grass Valley to celebrate the Pasquale house was put on the market and have had several showings already!!

Arlo was quite the little man. He ate 3 chicken strips and entertained us for the meal.
