May 25 - Donner Park and Hiking

Today’s adventure was at Donner Summit overlooking Donner Lake. Very rugged and rocky. Try to imagine you were with the Donner Party coming through here in the winter. 

Then it was on to Donner State Park to hike along the lake and in among the trees. 

Beth and Ken found some snow to touch. 

Stopped at Donner Ski Ranch for a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie for dinner and probably breakfast, too!!!

On the way home, Lenny was a bit tired. We left the dogs in the car when we walked around Truckee and Lenny ate Bill’s half Reuben sandwich. His tummy might be a little full. 

Stopped in Truckee for lunch at Jax’s Diner and a walk around town. 

Back home we had to take them on Shan and Carl’s ditch trail. This is one of the trees along the way. We are going to compare this one to some of the redwood trees at the Redwood State and National Forest. 

So till we were all done hiking, we had about 14,000 steps. 

May 23 - Pick up Beth and Ken at the Airport

Drove to Sac Airport to pick up Beth and Ken Raney who are hopefully ready for an adventure. 

Their view as they came across the Rockies. 

After the pickup, we needed some energy so headed to Urban Roots for BBQ and beverages. Erin was able to join us for a bit. 


Old Sacramento was our next stop. 

Then it was on to show them the Cidery, Nitty. 

May 22 - Around Arlo’s house

Playing with Arlo so Shan can finish prepping for the upcoming trip to South Korea. 

Arlo came out to the RV to visit. 

Then on to the sandbox. 

May 19 - BBQ at Drew and Erin’s

Drew and Erin invited us for a BBQ in their backyard. Geraniums were blooming like crazy. New fence makes the backyard look so much nicer. In fact, the neighbors behind them cleaned out their part, which would be in front of their side of the fence and stopped by to see if they could pay for part of it.

May 21 - Arlo all day

The Strawberry Festival begins this week, so we had to leave the Nevada City Campground, so we are Moochdocking at Shan and Carl’s. 

Arlo was helping Pappy Shuff park. 




Then a few projects around the house and a new sandbox. 

Lenny still likes Arlo’s pool and Banjo went in for a drink.

May 20 - Empire Mine Trail

We were hoping to get the kayaks out on Scott’s Flat Lake but when we went to the day use area, there was a $22 charge plus $7 for each pet. Seemed too steep for us so we just went for a hike on the Empire Mine trail.

May 18 - A little Arlo and the Gold Vibes Kombuchary

Today Shan, Arlo, Charlotte, Lark , Balen and I visited The Animal Place. It’s a sanctuary for animals that were either abused or orphaned. We had hoped to be able to pet some animals, but the only one who came up to us was a pig. Arlo loved it. 

Back to Shan’s house and then later to the Gold Vibes Kombuchary. 

Bandit loves his personal time with Carl.
