June 13 - Volunteer and Arlo

Today we were both up and out by 7:30. I went to the Merchandise Tent and Bill helped with the electrical crew to get the main stage ready for the music to begin.

Also volunteered at the Information Tent. Not too much traffic yet BUT I was volunteering with a ukulele player and she just happened to have a ukulele with her. So she taught me 3 chords, C, F, and G. She’s going to be teaching a workshop for newbies tonight. I’m going to try to go.

Then I went to visit Arlo for a couple hours. He’s still not feeling good but a 2 hour nap should help.

Back to the festival for the Ukulele workshop. I need a lot of practice for sure but it is stretching my brain. Good friend, Jean Stauffer told me I should try an instrument. Hope she smiles at this 😁

The evening program had the Tray Wellington Band and the Gongbang Band from South Korea. They won an award from a foundation to tour the US. Very broken English when they talk but beautiful music and harmony.

  1. Sounds like you and Bill are really enjoying your volunteer time at the Bluegrass festival. Looking forward to hearing you play the ukulele around the campfire! 🔥

  2. YES!! As I said before, you can play lots of songs with just C, F, and G chords. A few years ago I was trying to learn to play Bianca's ukelele. Her favorite songs at that time were from the movie Trolls. So I was trying to learn Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence." I don't remember what chords that song had.
