June 16 - Arlo and Fam came to the Festival

We were so excited because Shan, Carl and Arlo came to spend time with us at the festival for Father’s Day. We ate lots of good food and listened to some more good music for the Caltucky band.

June 15 - More Festival

As we walked around the campground, we saw so many different types of campers and tents. They were all over the campground in a somewhat organized fashion. Our RV is in the very back of this picture with some tents and smaller campers.

We really enjoyed walking through the campground listening to people jamming at various campers. Some people come just to jam and not even go into the festival.

In between acts at the festival, the juggler showed us his skill.

June 14 - Festival Music

Today began with Bill doing a little electrical repair on our RV.

Then off to listen to Salty Sally and then Sister Sadie. I really enjoy the all woman bands. The harmony is sooo good.

Here’s a tease of Salty Sally music:

Another band we like was

I went back to the ukulele workshop to practice a little more and to see if I think I would take lessons. Bill and I both are going to talk to our friend Terry Countermine to see what our next steps might be.

Bill and I listened to so many good music all day but I still convinced him to go square dancing at night in the pavilion. We decided that western square dancing was very different than back east. The caller jumped right in with some intricate calls. We laughed a lot and had a good time but decided we needed a little more instruction.

When I walked back to the TV, I saw this beautiful sunset.

June 13 - Volunteer and Arlo

Today we were both up and out by 7:30. I went to the Merchandise Tent and Bill helped with the electrical crew to get the main stage ready for the music to begin.

Also volunteered at the Information Tent. Not too much traffic yet BUT I was volunteering with a ukulele player and she just happened to have a ukulele with her. So she taught me 3 chords, C, F, and G. She’s going to be teaching a workshop for newbies tonight. I’m going to try to go.

Then I went to visit Arlo for a couple hours. He’s still not feeling good but a 2 hour nap should help.

Back to the festival for the Ukulele workshop. I need a lot of practice for sure but it is stretching my brain. Good friend, Jean Stauffer told me I should try an instrument. Hope she smiles at this 😁

The evening program had the Tray Wellington Band and the Gongbang Band from South Korea. They won an award from a foundation to tour the US. Very broken English when they talk but beautiful music and harmony.

June 12 - Volunteer at Merchandise Tent

Big job getting all the merchandise inventoried and placed on the shelves.

There are lots of people jming throughout the campground. We can hear music from the RV.

Then at night before the Festival starts, the adults and teachers for the music camp provided some great toe stomping music.

It’s fun roaming around the campground listening for a group picking.

There’s even a Bluegrass Taxi that takes you to the different venues.

June 9-11 - Bluegrass Volunteer and Meet the kids at Slice Brewery

June 10-11
I volunteered to provide guidance to people coming for music camp at Gate 4 again. Not as many people coming through the gate as yesterday. Music Camp starts today at 9 so most everyone is here now.

After that we drove to Lincoln to Slice Brewery to meet Drew, Erin, Shan , Carl and Arlo. Good beer and delicious pizza.

June 11
Today I volunteered at the merchandise tent folding T-shirts. There were so many of them.

In the afternoon I went over to Shan and Carl’s to see Arlo. He’s not feeling well. He picked iullup some kind of virus.

June 8 - Volunteering and Carl’s Birthday Party

Today is my day to begin volunteering. I’m a gate checker, which means I stand at the gate and direct people where to go. My perk is having bluegrass music played to me.

I also had some help

After our volunteer duties, we went to Carl’s birthday party. It seems like most of my pics are of Arlo, Erin and Drew.

June 7 - Bluegrass Festival and Arlo

At our campground, Nevada county fairgrounds,a bluegrass festival is going to happen. They need volunteers so Bill and I signed up. Bill is working on the electric team and I have several different spots that I’m covering. With that we get free dry camping at the fairgrounds and our festival ticket. You can’t beat that. Bill started his work today and I start tomorrow.

Bill took time off to have dinner with Shan, Carl and Arlo. Arlo has learned to peek-a-boo

Reading a book before bedtime.

April 6 - More Bluegrass Music

Before we headed over to Winter Wondergrass. We drove to see Lake Tahoe in the winter.

Our last day listening to bluegrass music and tasting beer was warmer and no snow. As you can see below, there’s no standard for what to wear. It was also fun people watching.

Food was good , especially the little mini donuts.

It was a great experience.

April 5 - Middle of snow country

Snow everywhere, Tahoe style.  This is the house Carl and Shan rented for our weekend.

Look at the amount of snow on that roof. This is snow country.

Inside it was toasty.

Carl, Shan, Arlo, and Drew and Erin gave us a Winter Wondergrass Experience for Christmas. And what an experience it was. In 30 degree weather, bluegrass music, food trucks, thousands of people, AND snow swirling around we listened to come great music

That was day 1.

April 4 - Arlo’s Birthday and Winter Wondergrass

It’s been 12 months of watching Arlo grow, and grow he did. He’s become a little man.

From this …

To this …

Yes, he loves to eat and tries almost any food you give him. So thanks full for this little bundle of joy. Shan and Carl are such loving, caring parents.

Shan Carl, Arlo, Drew and Shan gave us a Winter Wondergrass adventure. Bluegrass at Palisade Winter Resort. They have this every year, no matter what the weather.

On our drive, the snow has started

This is near Truckee

This is a rest area at Donner Pass. Our adventure is going to be interesting.

Winter Wondergrass has begun. The music was supposed to be outside but the weather forced it inside the Dunliner Pub. The place was rocked and stuffed to the gills. Dancing music and a hot toddy, loved it.

Arlo was sleeping so we took turns sitting with him.

The snow was blowing outside but it was warm and toasty inside.

Dinner at the River Ranch, just down the road from our house and then back to the house.
