April 9 - Arlo goes home and Happy Easter

Happy, Happy Day!!  Arlo gets sprung from the hospital. Carl and Shan came by Drew and Erin’s so we could see the little bugger.

He slept the whole time.

After they left, we started getting Easter dinner ready. Drew smoked a tri-tip. Yummy. We toasted Arlo with some bubbly and then we dug into a delicious meal.

Happy Easter to all.

April 8 - it’s winery time

Shan and Carl spent the day snuggling with Arlo in the hospital. Arlo has graduated from his little NICU bed to a big boy bed and notice he doesn’t have his breathing tube. They are hoping that they will all go home tomorrow.

Drew, Erin, Bill and I decided to drive to Sonoma to pick up wine at two different wineries, Carlisle and Baletto.

At Carlisle, they had their twice a year pizza oven and tasting. They make really good pizza.

On the way home we stopped at Ernie’s. Once a garage, now a hopping place to get beer and a view.

April 6-7 - Wineries and Little Arlo

While Shannon, Carl and Arlo are hanging out at UC Davis Hospital waiting for their walking papers. Drew, Erin, Bill and I headed out for the wineries. Drew and Erin need to pick up wine at one of their wine clubs , Carlisle. They fed us pizzas and wine. A lovely time.

While there, we received pictures of Arlo, who is off the oxygen and wondering what in the world is happening.

A stop at Ernie’s Beer Garage on the way home. It’s a happening place with a view.

April. 5 - Project 1 Has started and Easter Bunny

While Drew and Erin are at work, Bill started the project of ripping off their pergola.

Banjo is supervising.

Our very own Easter Bunny has arrived.

April 3-4 - Just hanging in Sac and. Surprise

An exciting time is happening in our family - Shan and Carl are expecting a little Alsup soon. We are just hanging around getting mundane but necessary things done … waiting and waiting.

Finally we received this text and picture:  Arlo Hager Alsup made his dramatic entrance at 7:59am on April 4. It was super intense and he is spending a little time in the NICU for some breathing support.

Shan is doing well.

April 5 - Arlo spent the night in the NICU. Nurses said he’s a feisty one. Of course, I wouldn’t expect anything different from an offspring of Shannon’s. When she was born, she drank a 6 ounce bottle of formula down in one gulp.  Arlo looks like Shan did except for the dark hair.

More to come

March 31 - April 2 - Sacramento

We arrived at the Cal Expo RV Park where we will be parked for 2 weeks, visiting Drew and Erin and waiting for Baby Alsup to be born.

Since Drew is obsessed with the Sacramento Kings, we decided to meet them at Legal Legion for a brew and dinner.

Some sunshine and cleanup at Drew and Erin’s. It’s not as warm as we had hoped but there is the sunshine.

Time for refreshments and outdoor music at Sac Yard

Definitely the place for dogs and humans today.

Erin and I spent some time at their local nursery called Green Acres. She wanted to get started on her garden.

Lots of help planting.

Banjo was supervising everything and everyone.

March 30-31 - A short stay in Bakersfield

Left the Salton Sea to start the trek to Sacramento. Stopped for the night at Minter’s Air Museum. They are a Harvest Host member. We met people from British Columbia headed south for warmer weather.

Found a brewery in Bakersfield that we enjoyed talking to the owners.

Left early morning for the long drive north. Some pics to pass the time as we were driving.

Yes it was windy for sure.

Look how green the hills are.

Here’s where those cuties come from.
