Even though we were still on 101, we drove past many dairy farms with Holsteins and Jersey cows. Guess that’s why this part of the coast is known for its cheeses and ice cream.
Found the Blue Heron French Cheese, a Harvest Host, for Friday’s stay. They have a huge parking area designated just for Harvest Hosts. Their shop has a little bit for everyone, cheese and wine tasting, a deli, even a petting zoo.
Unhitched the car and drove to the Tillamook Cheese Factory to show Jillian all the steps it takes to make cheese. Of course we had to have some of their ice cream.
It was warm in the afternoon but a nice breeze blowing. Jillian and I took a drive to see the Cape Meares lighthouse as the sun was setting.
The sun was still orange as we were leaving.
Those sunset pictures are gorgeous!
