Near Oroville, CA we passed orchard upon orchard of peaches and nuts.
We started our climb up the Shasta Mountains. Beautiful drive but no cell service.
We drove along the Trinity River on Route 299 and kept climbing.
Finally reached our campground in Trinidad, Sounds of the Sea, aptly named because we could hear sea Lions barking and waves crashing on the rocky west coast.

The temperature dropped about 30 degrees, a cool 60.
After we setup, we drove into Trinidad and the beach, Jillian’s first real look at the Pacific Ocean.
I’ve never seen flowers blooming on the beach before.
Tomorrow we’ll drive to the Redwood National and State Park to walk among some big trees.
That was a drive!! I am following your trip on google maps.
