July 3 - Banff

Driving the Trans Canadian Highway, there were so many great mountain views.

This is a wildlife corridor. What a great idea. They love their wildlife.

Good advice.

Although we didn’t make reservations early nor plan our trip to Banff, we scored a great campground at Mount Kidd. Staff were so helpful. Would stay here again.

After setting up camp, we took off on our bikes. The scenery was gorgeous.

The only wildlife we saw were 3 large bucks and a Prarie dog. Even though the sign said there were bear sittings on the trail we were riding.

Campfire with s’mores topped off our night.

July 2- Golden - Between Canada’s Glacier NP and Banff

Driving to our next campground on the Trans Canada Highway, we drove through the Canadian Glacier National Park, with Banff NP in front of us. Beautiful drive.

Arrived at our next campground, Golden Riverfront. Mountains on either side of us.

Drove into Golden to take a walk on the River Walk. The Columbia River runs through the town.

Tomorrow we’ll will be in Banff National Park.

June 23 - Success at Mount Ranier

Up at 5:30 to drive into the park which takes about 25 minutes on the windy twisty road. BUT we saw Mount Ranier I. All her glory and majesty.

Moving on to Auburn WA for the night. Andrea flies out early tomorrow.

Before we could get on our way, we had an issue with the loft not able to move up to position. Fumbled around for about 15 minutes. Andrea tried the button again and up it went. We had an issue with it right after we bought it. Had it fixed we thought but obviously not. Forgot to take any pictures. Had the mattress off and Bill was trying to figure out the wiring for it. Andrea is going to need to sleep in the recliner tonight.

After we got the loft raised, we took off for Seattle to see Pike Place Market. So much to see.

Then it was on to view the Space Needle and the Dale Chihuly art exhibit. That was fantastic. I love his work and to see such a wide array of it was amazing.

Andrea’s last night with us. First time we used the table as a bed.

June 22 - Mount Ranier

We drove up to Mount Ranier again. It wasn’t raining but it was still foggy.

Stopped at the museum and the transportation exhibit. The pictures of the horses and wagons driving up that mountain were amazing to me. Hard to believe they did that. It must have taken hours and hours because it took us at least 45 minutes on a paved road. President Taft was the first president to drive up the mountain in a 1906 car but he had to be pulled by mules part of the way.

Andrea and Shuff tried hiking but there is still lots of snow on the trails so didn’t get very far.

Lenny and Banjo and I walked around the parking lot. They sniffed a lot and liked walking on the snow.

A few wildflowers were beginning to bloom

On the way down the mountain, we stopped at Narada Falls. Water was gushing.

Here’s a glimpse of Mount Ranier when the clouds moved through a little bit. You can just barely see it (need to know where to look).

For dinner we stopped in the little town of Elbe, near where we were camped. There are railroad cars that are dining cars. Good food.

Came back to the RV and had ice cream, played Skyjo and Sequence and had wine.

Another full day. Tomorrow we are getting up early to drive one more time to hopefully see Mount Ranier. Then we’ll be on our way to Seattle. Andrea’s last full day with us.

June 21 - Mount Ranier

Pulled into the Sahara Creek Horse Camp. Have stayed here several times in the past. It’s about 10 miles from the entrance to the Park.

Ashford is the little town where we stop at the Art Gallery before heading up the twisty, windy road to the top to see Mount Ranier. So many pretty, artful things.

Unfortunately, it’s been raining most of the day and the mountain was fogged in completely. Mount Ranier is there somewhere behind the clouds.

Played more Skyjo. Since there wasn’t any sun, the solar wasn’t able to keep up so had to run the generator.

Tomorrow is another day. Hope for a brighter day.

June 19 - Port Angeles and Olympic NP

Left the Hoh Rainforest for Port Angeles. Staying at Olympic Cellars Winery for 2 nights.

After a tasting, we drove to the Hurricane Ridge entrance to the park. Hiked up to the ridge and around. It was overcast and windy. Fog on the mountain.

Allium Crenulatum

Pretty wildflowers blooming in the rocky, cold terrain.

Sanddune Wallflower

Dinner downtown Port Angeles at the Hook and Line Pub. The crab soup, clam chowder and crab melt were delicious. Great choice, Andrea.

A sunset to end our day.

Tomorrow we are driving to Cape Flattery.
