June 6 - Scott’s Flat Lake and Summer Nights Festival

Friday we were back at the lake. Again, another perfect day for kayaking and playing in the water. It’s so beautiful here with the emerald colored water and the trees all around. So glad Shan bought a pass so they can go whenever it suits them.

This is the first Friday for Summer Nights in downtown Nevada City. Beautiful evening to be out and about and to have ice cream!

Nevada City has their Pride flags up and blowing.

June 5 - Around the house and Nevada City Winery

Shuff was able to get the weed eating finished around the property.

Before we picked up Arlo from GiGi’s, Shan took us to the Nevada City Winery for a tasting.

Here’s a pic of Shan and Carl’s house in the moonlight.

In case you’re wondering, the weather has been sunny and warm for at least a month. Shuff says it’s boring but I love it. Although, it is getting dry and they are worried about fires.

June 4 - Drew’s Birthday 🎉

37 years ago, a very special person came into my life … Drew. He brought lots of laughter and joy to our lives. He loved reading books, playing GeoSafari and learning about the presidents. His brain was a sponge. He just soaked up knowledge.  Today he’s a professor at UC Davis. Even though I won’t see you on your actual birthday, we’ll party on Saturday.

A few pics of Drew’s life from about 1991 through graduation at Northwestern in 2016.

Shannon packed up Arlo and the dogs and we went for a walk around the neighborhood.

Doesn’t this flower just beg to tickle someone. These flowers are prolific here in Nevada City.

The other native flower is the sweet pea vines you see everywhere you walk or bike. Shan’s backyard is filled with the pretty pink flowers.

Back at the RV, Arlo loves to read. This book is about Arlo and Pap. And YES, Lenny is jealous!

Sitting at the table in the RV, Arlo is eating hummus, with his fingers, of course.

June 3 - Bike West side of Tahoe

After we dropped Arlo off at GiGi’s, we headed north to Tahoe. Parked at Palisades Olympic Park and biked up to Tahoe. It’s and along the west shore of Tahoe Lake.

Another beautiful ride of 24 miles. Ate at Tahoe Market and then drive back to pick up Arlo.

Shan and Carl have some fruit trees. One is a Ranier cherry and it’s producing.

June 2 - Another Scott’s Lake perfect day and Games at 1849 Brewery

Before we left for Scott’s Flat Lake, Arlo had breakfast and a little play time in Belle.

Then the lake … ahhhh, it’s so close and perfect.

Dinner was at 1849 Brewery with Donna. We played Kings Crown. I lost badly, Donna won.

We laughed a lot.

June 1 - Another Recovery Day

While Carl and Shannon cleaned out the van from yesterday , Arlo was “driving” the van.

Carl smoked ribs … absolutely delicious. We had corn on the cob and baked beans. Perfect summer meal. As you can see, Arlo loves corn on the cob. Best part was the ears were only .25 an ear. Whoever heard of that?

May 31 - Lake Valley Reservoir

Carl and Shannon picked a perfect place to go on a HOT day - Lake Valley Reservoir. They took their new van to test out cooking in it. Shan made us grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and Frito Pie for dinner. Everything worked as planned. Made a few notes on what they need to buy to keep in the van.

In between lunch and dinner, we kayaked and read and relaxed.

Banjo is happy Erin showed us this foldable crate. He can be with us but won’t get lost because he can’t hear or see anymore.
