Raining some on Friday

First item of business this morning was for Lew and Bill to go to the back country office to apply for a permit to hike down in the canyon. They were lucky enough to get one for 2 days. They are like 2 kids at Christmas, getting their backpacks ready. Denise and I had to remind them about a couple of things they might need. 😜

After they felt they were ready to hike the next 2 days, we decided to check out the one General Store to see what they had and the IMAX theatre. Then Lew and Bill wanted to go for an off-road drive again.

This time, it wasn’t as rocky. In fact it was quite level and not as dusty since it had rained a little.

We stopped at the ranger’s tower. Can you see Bill and Lew up there?

We hiked a short distance to read about the dwarf mistletoe that grows on the ponderosa pines and eventually kills them.

Insert pic Lew has of us under the mistletoe.

Next we stopped to see the Hull Cabin, the oldest surviving historic cabin in the Grand Canyon. Since my maiden name is Hull, I wanted to see if (maybe I’m part owner 😛. Alas, someone had rented it (probably a relative of mine) and we didn’t get to even see it.

Insert picture from Lew of the Hull sign

Stopped to get a picture of this delicate plant. Loved the spot of color.

Banjo needed to use it for a potty.

Another day in at the South Rim.
