May 30 - Arlo 2 month photo shoot

Weather is still cool here, definitely don’t need air conditioning.

Today I was supposed to have an aquacize class but it got canceled so Shan took a swim and I walked Arlo in the stroller around Wolf Creek Trail. Got some leg work in pushing up the hills. Lucky for me Arlo slept through the 2.5 mile walk. I probably got as much exercise walking as I would have in the water.

After we got home, it was time for Arlo’s 2 month photo shoot. He has grown. First picture is at 1 month and 2nd is from today.

Arlo’s Aunt Angela bought him the penguin in the picture below. He has filled out and looks like a little man.

Here’s his 1st month picture with the penguin

May 29 - Memorial Day

A day of relaxation for everyone before we went to Terry and Charlotte’s for a cookout. No pics unfortunately. Fun time talking with two of their friends who came from Russia by way of Australia.

May 28 - Erin all to ourselves

Today we made the trip down the hill to spend with Erin. Drew is at a conference in Toronto so we had Erin all to ourselves.

She and I sewed on her t-shirt quilt most of the time with a stop at At Ease Brewery for lunch.

A short break to look at the flowers blooming  in their backyard … these geraniums are huge and a stunning color.

Erin’s garden is growing. She just needs to get her pumpkins planted and then get ready for the produce!

Dinner was a Japanese Curry that Erin made. So flavorful. A great day in Sac.

May 27 - Erin, Winnie and Dennis Visit Shan

Bill and I took Lenny and Banjo on a morning walk on the ditch trail behind Shan’s house.

Lenny had to take a rest in the sun after the 3 mile walk.

Then Erin and crew arrived. Fun to spend time with them.

Erin’s time with Arlo.

Winnie had to check this new smell out.

Forgot to mention that we not only had Dennis and Winnie, Shan was watching Charlotte’s two dogs Ruby and Bruno. All the dogs go along quite well, even Banjo. He didn’t try to gum their ankles at all. We call that a very successful day. Lenny had to be top dog though.

Falafels for dinner. What a treat.

May 26 - Move Ida to Shan’s and Pedicures

We moved out of Scott’s Flat Lake Campground to Shan and Carls. This is called Moochdocking when you stay at relatives or friends. Took awhile to get Ida situated but we are in and setup.

First thing on Shan’s errand list was to get a pedicure. Carl is watching Arlo so Shan’s out and about. Woohoo. How will all this work?

We met Charlotte and Lark at Bless Nails.

And Carl and Arlo did great - 3 hours. Look at the little Angel.

Great day.

May 25 - Stroller ride, cookout

Today was a momentous occasion. Bill and I were able to take Arlo in a car to a trail for a hike while Shannon bikes with a friend.

Butterfly bushes are blooming along the ditch trail.

Shan decided to come to the RV for a cookout tonight. Arlo is ready

Pappy Shuff got the bright idea to give Arlo a beer. Now instead of milk drunk, he’s IPA drunk.

Is Arlo milk drunk … or beer drunk?

Camping out takes a lot of energy so Arlo took a snooze in Ida.

Then home for bath and bed.

May 23 and 24 - Scott’s Flat Lake

Scott’s Flat Lake is so beautiful and the weather has been perfect for hiking, sitting by the lake and having a fire.

These are some of the blooming flowers along the lake trail. I think they are in the azalea family.

When we aren’t relaxing at the lake, we are over at Shan and Carls just watching Arlo grow AND helping Shan organize her yarn and Arlo’s clothes.

Fun times for sure.

Since there isn’t a fire ban yet, we had another cookout and this time I had s’mores!

May 22 - Scott’s Flat Lake

Another beautiful day on the lake. Sunrise on the lake from our front door.

Took an early morning hike around the lake to the marina. Saw some flowers starting to bloom.

Here’s the wildlife we saw - a slug.

Shan and Arlo and Shan’s friend Donna came to visit us at the lake in the afternoon. Nice relaxing time.

May 21 - Last day at NC Campground, Scott’s Flat Lake

Today was our last day at Nevada County Campground. We were there about 5 weeks and will miss it but moving on.

For the next 3 days we’ll be dry camping at Scott’s Flat Lake Campground. Beautiful setting.

Drew is coming up from Sacramento and Shan and Carl and crew will be coming over to enjoy the sun and water.

Bill and I took the dogs on the trail along the lake. This shot may show you how blue-green the water is.

See how peaceful our little spot is ….

Now look at this. The fun has begun.

Winnie loves to swim. She has on her safety vest, just in case.

Back at Shannon and Carl’s for dinner of smoked brisket, beans, potato salad (ZuZu’s recipe), collard greens and carrots.
