We left Fernley for a boondocking site near Ely, Nevada. Driving on Route 50, we didn’t see another vehicle for over 100 miles. Of course, that also meant we didn’t have cell coverage. I had forgotten to download an audiobook from the library so we listened to one of our favorite storytellers, Bil Lepp.
When we stopped at a grocery store in Eureka, it was a combo of an Ace Hardware and a grocery store. Great idea in a place as remote as Eureka. I saw this sculpture in front of the store. You know you’re in the west when sculptures are made out of horseshoes.

We pulled into the Sacramento Pass, our boondock spot for the night, we got the last spot. We’ve stayed here once before and liked the spot. Wondering why it’s called Sacramento Pass when we are a long way from Sacramento CA? Early historic wagon and exploration routes were looking for a route connecting Utah to the interior of Nevada and eventually California.

After a walk, we left for our next stop in Richfield, Utah at Steve’s Steakhouse.
